Cycling and hiking

There are more than 80 km of cycling trails along the banks of the Baťa Canal. It follows the unique waterway built by Bata's factories to transport coal. The cyclist can pass the entire area without contact with the surrounding traffic most of the time and thus enjoy a quiet and safe ride.

Wine cellars of Plze

In Petrovo, there is a one-of-a-kind reserve of folk architecture named Plže. In it, there are around 80 wine cellars which have been built by the local winemakers since the 15th century. The wine cellars form a street with two small squares. The area is open to the public all year round with seasonal cellar openings, where you can taste authentic Moravian wine. Visit during the summer to enjoy one of the many cultural events.

Váté písky is a unique biotope, situated between the railway stations Rohatec and Bzenec-Přívoz. It is often nicknamed the Moravian Sahara. It is located along the railway line and its widest part measures about 60 m.

The 20-metre-high lookout tower decorates the Skala Forest Park in Polešovice. If you can climb the whole 80 steps, you can see the Chřiby Mountains, the White Carpathians and the entire Lower Moravian Valley from 349 metres above sea level. The name Floriánka is derived from the name of the last grape variety bred in the Wine Breeding Station in Polešovice.

Pottery Museum

The pottery museum is located in a former ceramics factory, in the centre of the Tupesy village. It includes a period exhibition, a potter's dwelling and tells about his way of work and life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.  All that is followed by a new exhibition, which depicts the history and technology of the production of majolica pottery in Tupesy. Across the courtyard is the current production of ceramics and a sample ceramics shop.

The open-air museum in Modra uncovers a fortified settlement from the Great Moravia era. It was created according to real archaeological findings, some of which came directly from the site where the museum is located. Peek behind the fortification walls, enter the dwellings, workshops or farm and church buildings. Near the museum, there is the Living Water freshwater fish exhibition, the Centre for History and Traditions, the Blue Terrarium and the Velehrad pilgrimage site nearby.

Velehrad is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Czech Republic. The pride of the parish is the Baroque basilica with the adjacent buildings of the former Cistercian monastery. The complex includes the Baroque Chapel of St. John, the Neo-Gothic Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius, underground catacombs and a lapidarium with an exposition of Romanesque architecture.

Take an e-bike ride through vast meadows, floodplain forests and vineyards to the foothills of the Chřiby Mountains. The route along the Morava River will take you to places like the history of Great Moravia, the Kunovice Aviation Museum or the spa. Along the way you can enjoy swimming in a modern aquapark or in natural gravel lakes. If you are lucky enough to head along the Morava River during a warm summer evening, you can experience the unforgettable atmosphere of the sunset. Upon return, be sure to treat yourself to a rewarding glass of Dog in Dock wine in the apartment or a tasty dinner at the Bistro.
